Idaho Falls Fiber (IFF) is concerned about the privacy of information we obtain and maintain about you and consider security of this information a top priority. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose your personal information. We collect personal information when you use our website(s) and other online and offline products, services and experiences (collectively, the “Services”). Types of Information Collected

The types of non-public, personal and contact information we may collect comes to us from a variety of sources, including:

  • Contact information you provide when you open an account such as your name, address, email address, phone number, social security number and date of birth (solely to validate your identity) and contact and employer information.
  • Payment information you provide needed to complete the online bill payment such as credit card information, bank account information, email address, billing address, and City of Idaho Falls Utilities account information. Please note that your financial information is collected and stored by a third party payment processing company. Use and storage of that information is governed by the third party payment processor’s applicable privacy policy.
  • Information related to your online bill payment transactions such as email notifications, banking related notifications, and payment methods.
  • Survey information. When you sign your Idaho Falls Fiber RESIDENTIAL FIBER OPTIC SERVICE AGREEMENT, you grant permission to be contacted by Idaho Falls Fiber, regarding the installation process and customer satisfaction. This is done via SMS and you can opt-out of receiving SMS message  responding with STOP.
  • Information we receive from third parties such as consumer reporting agencies.

Types of Information We Disclose

IFF limits collection and use of information about our customers to that which is necessary to administer our business or improve our service. We will provide Personal Information to outside entities only under these conditions:

  • When we are required to do so by law.
  • When we are required by the Idaho Public Records Act, to disclose information. All information collected at this website or through this Service becomes a public record that may be subject to inspection by the public unless an exemption in law exists. Exemptions to disclosure exist for certain information such as residential mailing addresses, residential telephone numbers, credit card numbers, bank account numbers or any personal information as exempted in the Public Records Act.
  • We may also disclose Personal Information in a good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to any applicable law or comply with legal process served on us or the website; (b) protect or defend our rights or property, the website or users; or (c) act under urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of us, the users of the website or the public.

  • IFF does not sell any customer information for any third-party marketing.
  • We will disclose the necessary account information, billing information and contact information to service agencies that IFF has contracted with to provide billing and electric account services for our customers, such as online billing and payment processing companies. Again, these companies are contractually required to safeguard this information to our standards

Retention of Your Data and Deletion

  • Your personal information will not be kept longer than is necessary for the specific purpose for which it was collected.
  • When we decide how long we will keep your information we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure, why we need it, and any relevant legal requirements (such as legal retention and destruction periods).
  • The foregoing will, however, not prevent us from retaining any personal information if it is necessary to comply with our legal obligations, in order to file a legal claim or defend ourselves against a legal claim, or for evidential purposes.

Because IFF considers security of private information a top priority, it is our policy to verify the identity of any person establishing a new account with us.

Additionally, before sharing account information, IFF takes commercially reasonable measures to verify that the account access is being requested by you or by a person whom you have designated as having financial responsibility on your account.
